Ethnographic context
Zhegar is a kind of Tibetan story-telling. "Zhegar" means white and auspicious fruit. The performers were beggars, who either told and sang stories with blessed words, introduced themselves, or praised the beautiful scenery and monasteries. The performance of Zhegar has neither the singing part nor the accompanying instruments. Its main form of performance is expressed by telling. Through the varied tones of the speaker, the content of "Zhegar" can be vivdly displayed.
