"Cintece batrinesti : chant d'autrefois (litt."chant des vieux"), habituellement traduit par le mot générique ballade. Exécuté par des musiciens professionnels (lautari) : Constantin Staicu, chant et violon ; Georghe Staicu, cymbalum ; Alec Staicu, accordéon.
Le style épico-lyrique est largement expressif et communicatif ; il s'agit à la fois d'émouvoir et d'édifier l'auditoire. Selon les moments plus ou moins dramatiques du récit, des passages chantés sur des phrases descendantes ou en recto tono alternent avec des passages parlés où le vers est scandé avec emphase.
Noces. Exécuté à la demande des invités au moment du banquet.
Dans cette ballade, dite Sarpele ("Le serpent"), le héros s'affronte avec un monstre mythique dans un combat dont il sort finalement indemne."

The epico-lyrical style is mostly expressive and communicative ; it sets out to both move and edify the audience. According the moment, more or less dramatic in the story, passages sung on descending phrases, or on monotone, alternate with spoken passages, where the verse is scanned emphatically.
Weddings. Performed at tige request of the guests for the banquet.
In this ballad, called Sarpele ("The serpent") the hero affronts a mytical monster in a combat from which he emerges unscathed."
