"Récitation du Rig Veda par un groupe de dix brahmanes Nambudiri.
D'une façon générale, la récitation des Veda obéit à des règles très précises. Les textes, en sanskrit, sont composés de syllabes de trois longueurs différentes (brève, moyenne et longue). De plus, ces syllabes supportent un système de quatre accents, rendus dans la récitation par des degrés mélodiques svara distincts. Dans la tradition des brahmanes Nambudiri, les accents udâtta et pracaya sont récités sur un degré moyen stable, l'accent anudâtta sur un degré plus haut, le svarita sur un degré plus bas ou un mouvement composé moyen puis haut selon le contexte accentuel de la syllabe. Les trois degrés stables sont do# - mi - fa#, autour desquels les récitants exécutent des oscillations, kampa.
Le texte est un passage d'un hymne (référé RV 1/25), composé dans le mètre Gâyatrî, qui s'adresse au dieu Varuna."
"Recitation of the Rig Veda par a group of ten Nambudiri Brahmins.
Generally speaking, recitation of the Veda follows precise rules. The texts, in Sanscrit, contain syllables of three different lengths (short, medium and long). In addition, these syllables go with a system of four accents, rendered in the recitation by distinct melodic degrees, svara. In the Nambudiri Brahmin tradition, the accents anudâtta and pracaya are recited on a stable middle degree, the accent anudâtta on a degree higher, the svarita on a degree lower, or a compound movement, medium then high, according to the accentual context of the syllable. The three stable degrees are C#, E and F#, around which the chorus oscillates, kampa.
The text is a passage from a hymn (identified as RV l/25), composed in the metre called gâyatrî, addressed to the god Varuna."
