"Les rythmes à 9 temps (articulés en 4 + 5 ou 5 + 4) sont très courants en Anatolie, et se trouvent aussi chez les Turcs orientaux. Le 9 temps est également à la base de la musique classique coréenne (Pansori), dans des tempo commençant extrêmement lentement pour finir très rapidement. Il y a des chances qu’au moins une forme de 9 temps ait existé en Iran dans le passé. Dans un tempo moyen, l’articulation 4+5 est empreinte de majesté et en Asie centrale constitue presque un genre expressif particulier, grave et méditatif (Talqin, Talqincha, Chap-andâz). Je ne me suis inspiré d’aucune de ces formes, me contentant de suivre une logique mélodique dans ce cadre et dans le mode Esfahân. (Santur, târ, ney, ud, zarb.)"

It is much probable that at least one form of 9 beats existed in Iran in the past. In Central Asia, the structure 4 +5 in a medium tempo, is almost an expressive, meditative and serious genre in itself (Talqin, Talqincha, Chap-andāz). I was not inspired by any of these forms, and only followed a melodic logic in this frame and in the Esfahān mode. (Santur, tār, ney, ‘ud, zarb.)"
