"Voix des esprits mai ; titre : Malimalila.
Deux hommes chantent chacun dans un tuyau de bambou servant d'altérateur de voix.
Les esprits mai sont incarnés par des hommes masqués qui dissimulent les tuyaux sous leur costume. Toujours par paire, les jeunes hommes initié portaient ces masques lors d'une cérémonie pratiquement disparue dans les années 1960.
Le texte évoque le fleuve Sépik et les billes de bois qui y descendent, ainsi que les hommes avec des scarifications."
"Voices of the mai spirits ; title : Malimalila.
Two men singing each in one tube of bamboo, which act as voice-alterers.
The mai spirits are represented by men in masks who hide the bamboo tubes under their costumes. Always paired, the young initiated men wore such masks during a ceremony, which had practicaîly disappeared by the 19605.
The text mentions the Sepik River and the floating logs that come down it, as well as men with scarifications."
