"Yodel, Zauer ou Zauerli, par Ernst Pfändler, Jakob Dietrich, Ernst Frick et Konrad Ôrtle.
Polyphonie à trois parties : seul le soliste (Vorzaurer) chante en yodel. Les autres chanteurs, qui restent dans le registre de poitrine, "tiennent droit" (gradhäbe) ; la longue tenue des accords fait penser à un bourdon. Sous sa forme actuelle, la polyphonie se conforme à la tonalité, avec alternance tonique/dominante. Deux des chanteurs secouent rythmiquement trois grandes cloches cérémonielles (Schelle schotte) qui, au départ de la vallée, étaient attachées au cou dés vaches menantes.
Lors de l'arrivée à l'alpage, les paysans et vachers chantent plusieurs Zäuerli avant de suspendre ces trois cloches au chalet jusqu'au retour.
Chant sans paroles, comprenant des syllabes de yodel choisies en fonction du registre, avec essentiellement les voyelles [a] et [o] en voix de poitrine, [u] en voix de fausset, et accessoirement la voyelle [i] dans les deux registres."

Three-part polyphony : only the soloist (Vorzaurer) yodels. The other singers, who keep to the chest register, "hold straight" (gradhäbe) ; the long duration of the sustained chords is reminiscent of a drone. In its present form, the polyphony is in the conventional tonal system, alternating tonic and dominant. Two of the singers rhythmicall shake three large ceremonial bells (Schelle schötte), which, on leaving the valley, were put around the neeks of the leading cows.
Once arrived at the alpine pasturage, peasants and cowherds sang several Zäuerli before hanging up the three bells on the chalet, until the return.
Son without words, consisting of yodel-syllables selected for the register, mostly with thc vowels [a] and [o] in chest voice and [u] in falsetto, but also with [i] in both registers."
