"Discours rituel, xwââxâ, par Arthur Maramin.
Après une introduction par un "crieur", le spécialiste attitré déclame, recto tono et sur un tempo rapide, une série de tableaux qui condensent l'histoire des alliances locales. Moments à la fois exaltés et formalisés de la cérémonie, ces discours rythmés peuvent durer jusqu'à une demi-heure selon l'orateur et la circonstance. L'orateur est entouré par les hommes de son groupe de résidence qui le soutiennent par des chuintements rythmés, ponctuent ses énoncés par des cris et l'encouragent par des formules codées, mulu.
Déclamé lors des cérémonies de levée de deuil qui s'organisent schématiquement en un vaste échange entre deux lignées, ce type de discours introduit le don de la lignée dite paternelle. On notera la voix de l'orateur amplifiée par une sonorisation."

After an introduction by the "cryer", the entitled specialist declaims, in monotone and in a rapid tempo, a series of histories about local alliances. At times exalted and formalised for the ceremony, these rhythmed speeches may last up to half an hour, depending on the orator and the circumstances. The orator is surrounded by men of his residential group, who support him with rhythmic hisses, puctuate his declarations by cries, and encourage him with mulu, coded formulas.
Declaimed during ceremonies of the lifting of a mourning-period, which is schematically organised as a vast exchange of goods between lineages, this type of discourse announcing the gift of the paternal line. The voice of the orator is amplified by a loudspeaker."
