"Chant chuchoté accompagné de la cithare-sur-cuvette inanga.
Voix d'homme. La prononciation des paroles, où le souffle est très présent, est parfaitement synchronisée avec le pincement de la cithare. Alors qu'il n'émet qu'un léger voisement à hauteur difficilement déterminable, le "chanteur" produit l'illusion d'un mouvement mélodique vocal. Cette manière de chanter offre équilibre par complémentarité, le spectre étant largement couvert par les composantes vocales et instrumentales.
Exécuté par les hommes, le chant chuchoté sert à divertir le musicien lui-même ou un petit auditoire, tel que l'ancienne cour du roi. Les sujets souvent historiques relatent des thèmes pastoraux de manière épique, moralisatrice ou humoristique.

"Whispered song accompanied by a trough-zither, inanga.
A man's voice. The pronunciation of the words, with the breath very obvious, is perfectly synchronised with the plucking of the zither. While there is a weak voiced component whose pitches are difficult to determine, the "singer" gives the illusion of vocal melodic movcment. This way of singing finds its balance through complementarity, in that the soundspectrum is largely covered by both vocal and instrumental components.
Performed by men, the whispered song is for personal leasure, or for a few people, such as at the former royal courts. The subject matter is often historical, telling of pastoral themes in an epic, moralising or humorous manner.
