«Les pièces ont été choisies de façon à montrer la richesse du jeu du dutôr aussi bien dans les genres grave (Tasnif, Nôlesh), vocal (Mogholcha), léger (Dutôrim, Gilôs), et de virtuosité (Qoshtôri, Rôhat). Elles couvrent les écoles du Khorezm, du Boukhara et du Ferghana. Comme pour le setâr iranien, il existe plusieurs catégories de timbres en fonction de la taille de l'instrument et de l'épaiseur des cordes.
