descriptionabstract
Usman Achmad, a member of the Abung people, plays the solo guitar style known as gitar tunggal, found in Lampung, Sumatra. The melodies of gitar tunggal can accompany any number of songtexts, as long as the moods of each are matched. To songs such as this one, a ukulele (kroncong) is added to the guitar and voice, creating what is considered to be a happier sound. The songs are played mainly at weddings and other domestic celebrations, and the name indicates that it is in the key of C major.
