- Btsan-op (king) Srong-Btsan Sgam-po had great talent and bold vision. He was well versed in both polite letter and martial arts.
Once Srong-Btsan Sgam-po heard that Emperor Tang-tai-zong(Tang dynasty) had a daughter named Princess Wen-cheng, who was unique in her apparence and virtue among her contempories.
In order to make connection by marriage with Tang Dynasty, specially appointed his extremely intelligent Minister Mgar.
Stong-b tsan yul-srung to propose marriage. He gave Mgar. Stong-btsan yul-srung seven golden coins as the first-meeting gift, a suit of jewllery armour as the betrothal gift. In addition, he also gave Mgar. Stong-btsan yul-srung three sealed letters which could give assistance when he got into trouble.
When Mgar. Stong-btsan yul-srung arrived in Changan, Capital of Tang Dynasty, the diplomatic ministers from India, Ge-sar Persia, Tartat had also been there for the same purpose.
The Emperor Tan-tai-zong wanted to test their wisdoms by the following methods: to thread the zigzag bright pearls with a red thread; to kill 500 sheep and eat them all within one day; to rub the sheepskin into the leather; to recognize the mother-baby relationship from 100 mares and 100 ponies; to tell the roots and tops from 100 same thick logs; to find out Princess Wen-cheng among 300 charming girls.
With the help of an old woman servant, Mgar. Stong-btsan yal-srung defeated all the diplomatic ministers, and finally he welcame Princess Wen-cheng into Tibet to get married with Srong-Btsan Sgam-po.
