"Choeur imitant un orchestre de trompes. Titre : Tete.
Choeur de dix hommes. Par entrées successives, de l'aigu vers le grave, les chanteurs imitent le jeu des trompes - en hoquet - et leurs timbres respectifs. Selon le registre et la matière de la trompe imitée, la coloration des voix, plus ou moins nasalisé, est claire pour les trompes en corne et sombre pour les trompes graves en bois.
L'orchestre de trompes, quant à lui, est lié à l'initiation des jeunes gens. Allusion aux gestes symboliques qui marquent pour les circoncis la fi
n de la période de retraite et leur entrée dans la communauté des adultes."

"Chorus imitating an orchestra of horns. Title : Tete.
Chorus of ten men. By successive entries, from the high to the low, the singers imitate the playing of the horns, by hocketting, and their respective timbres. Accordin to the material of which the imitated horn is made, the coloration of the voices, more or less nasalised, is clear for the horns made from tusks and sombrous for the low horns made of wood.
The horn orchestra is involved in initiations of young people. There is allusion to the symolic gestures which indicate to the newly circumcised the end of their period of seclusion, and their entry into the adult world."
