"Interjections vocales, kakegoe, émises par les joueurs de tambours avant et après la frappe de leur instrument dans le théâtre nô. Tambours en forme de sablier frappés avec les doigts, o-tsuzumi par S.Kawamura et ko-tsuzumi par A.Kô ; tambour à battes taiko par T.Ooe ; flûte nô-kan par Y. Isso.
Ces cris ont deux fonctions : l'une correspondant à une ponctuation temporelle, l'autre, servant à créer l'atmosphère de la pièce. Ces cris diffèrent selon la catégorie de la pièce ; ils constituent un matériau sonore et sont utilisés au même titre que les frappements du tambour pour composer diverses cellules rythmiques.
Ce passage est extrait de la pièce "Shakkyô" (le Pont en Pierres) écrite par Motomasa (1394-1432), fils de Zéami dont le rôle fut très important dans la codifi
cation du théâtre nô."

These cries have two functions. One is punctuating the time ; the other is meant to establish the atmosphere. These cries differ according to the category of the drama, and make up a sonorous arsenal, used similarly to the sounds of the drums to compose diverse rhythmic cells.
This passage is an extract from the play Shakkyo (The Bride of Stones), written by Motomasa (l394-1432), son of zeami, whose role had been vital to the codification of the Nô theatre."
