- Throughout the week before Easter, roads all over Haiti swell with bands of revelers, dancers, singers and percussionists, travelling from vodou temples to their villages. Rara and gaga are wildly festive sounds, featuring unusual percussion and wind instruments, and often bawdy lyrics.
