"Musique d'un rituel de guérison appelant la présence d'une force surnaturelle, le kokolampo.
La partie de la cérémonie correspondant à la plage du disque a été enregistrée avant la possession d'un participant par le kokalampo. Une phrase musicale lancée par un chanteur est reprise par un choeur mixte plusieurs fois. Ensuite, une voix de femme, plutôt criée que chantée, s'élève dans l'aigu tandis que le choeur, cessant de chanter, l'accompagne d'une sorte de ronflement rythmé produit par des halètements sonores. Le support rythmique est complété par des claquements de mains contre les cuisses des exécutants.
Un guérisseur est présent pendant toute la cérémonie (qui dure parfois plusieurs jours). C'est lui qui interprétera les paroles sans suite prononcées sous l'empire de la possession, indiquant comment soigner le malade."
"Music for a curing ritual, invoking the presence of a supernatural force, called kokolampo.
The part of the ritual on this track was recorded before any possession by kokolampo had occured to any participant. A musical phrase initiated by one singer is taken up by a mixed chorus, several times. Then, a woman's voice, more cried than sung,cuts in at high pitch, whilst the choir, stopping singing, accompanies her with a sort of rhytmic snorting, by means of audible gasping. The rhythmic backround has thigh-slapping (by the hands) added.
A curer is resent throughout the whole ceremony (these last for several days, sometimes). He is the one who interprets the mysterious words that are pronounced under the inuence of possession and who indicates how to treat the invalid."
