"Chant trallallero, chanté par une dizaine d'hommes. Titre : La partenza ("Le départ"), pièce maîtresse du répertoire.
Polyphonie ayant hérité d'apports savants récents : emprunts aux harmonies et fanfares et art du bel canto. Elle comprend cinq parties principales : 1) tenore, entonnant en premier ; 2) baritono, réalisant un contre-chant ; 3) voix de donna, de femme, dite aussi de contralto ; 4) chitarra, imitation de l'instrument par la voix - les doigts devant la bouche servent à modi
fier le son ; 5) basso, parties librement doublées fournissant la base harmonique.
Traditionnellement chanté par les dockers du port de Gênes, le trallallero est exécuté depuis quelques années en situation de concert.

Polyphony with some recent influences from art-music : borrowings from military and bugle bands and from bel canto. It has five principal parts : 1) tenore, the first to sound ; 2) baritono, performing a countersong ; 3) voice of donna, of a woman, also called contralto, 4) chitarra, imitation of a guitar by a voice, with fi
ngers in front of the mouth serving to modify the sound ; 5) basro, parts which are freely doubled, providing the harmonic basis.
Traditionally sung by wharf-labourers of the port of Genoa, the trallallero has for several years been sung at concerts.
