"Chant de sarclage, miololt ulaliu.
Contrepoint à trois parties, par trois chanteurs. Le chanteur principal chante seule la première phrase de chaque strophe, puis entrent successivement la deuxième voix chantée par une femme, et la troisième voix, par un homme. A la fi
n de chaque strophe, les trois parties se rejoignent à l'unisson.
Chanté le soir au village lors de la période du sarclage du millet et du riz.
Les paroles, évoquant l'arrachement des mauvaises herbes, ne sont chantées qu'au début de chaque strophe par le chanteur principal ; dès que la deuxième voix entre, elles sont relayées par des syllabes sans signi
cation."

"Weeding song, Miololt alaliu.
Counterpoint in three parts, by three singers. The principal voice sings alone the fi
rst phrase of each strophe, then successively the second voice sung by a woman, and the third voice, by a man. At the end of each strophe, the three parts come together in unison.
Sung in the evenings during the period of weeding the millet or the rice.
The words, mentioning the pulling up of weeds, are only sung at the beginning of each strophe by the principal singer ; when the second voice enters, the song goes ahead in nonsense syllables."
