"Chant diphonique dans le style dag kargyraa ("kargyraa de montagne"), par Seweck Aldyn-Ool.
Des cinq styles majeurs de chant diphonique du pays Tuva, le kagyraa a le son fondamental le plus grave. Les chanteurs distinguent une douzaine de sous-style : xovu kargyraa ("kargyraa de steppe"), dag kargyraa ("kargyraa de montagne"), etc. Le fondamental (60 Hz) qui constitue le bourdon est périodiquement relayé par la tierce mineure inférieure. En prononçant les voyelles[u, o, e, a], 1e chanteur sélectionne respectivement les harmoniques 8, 9, 10, 12 pour en faire une mélodie pentatonique. Dans un court passage avec texte, il alterne deux fondamentaux distants d'une seconde majeure. La fin d'une phrase musicale (fin de souffle) est marquée par un changement de timbre dû à la prononciation de la voyelle [i] accentuée. Cf. sonagramme; fig.14"

Of the fi
ve major ovettone singing styles in Tuva, the kargyraa has the lowest fundamental. The singers recognise a dozen sub-styles : xovu kargyraa ("Kargyraa of the steppes"), dag kargyraa ("kargyraa of the mountain"), etc. The fundamental (60Hz) which constitutes the drone is periodically dropped to the minor third below. By pronouncing the vowels [u, o, e, a], the singer respectively selects harmonies 8, 9, 10, 12 to make a pentatonic melody. In a short passage with text, he alternates two fundamentals a second apart. The end of a musical phrase (end of a breath) is marked by a change of timbre due to the accented pronounciation of the vowel [i]. See the sonagramm, figure 14."
