"Voix du génie Ya Mweï (Mère des inondations).
Voix rauque émise par un personnage invisible dont l'inflammation du larynx a été obtenue par l'ingestion d'une décoction de feuilles irritantes. La voix masquée se superpose à celle d'un homme qui interprète en voix naturelle ce qu'exprime le génie.
Rituel de la confrérie du Bwiti, en particulier pour les deuils.
Le génie est censé "avaler" les défunts. L'interprète l'informe que quelqu'un est mort. Mweï répond qu'il va reprendre "son enfant"."

"Voice of the genie Ya Mweï (Mother of the inundations).
Husky voice coming from an invisible personage wih an inflamed larynx, obtained by ingestion of a decoction of irritant leaves. The masked voice is superimposed on that of a man who interprets, in a natural voice, what the genie is expressing.
The genie is reputed "to swallow" the dead. The interpreter informs it that someone has died. Mweï replies that it will go and collect "its child"."
