Title Présentation de Scheherazade Qassim Hassan Description Scheherazade Hassan is an Iraqi Ethnomusicologist who specializes in the music of Iraq and the Arab world. Scheherazade Hassan was an Associate Professor at the University of Baghdad. She conducted extensive fieldwork in Iraq and recorded the musical traditions of different populations who lived in the country. She founded and directed the first Centre for Traditional Music in Baghdad. She taught at the University of Paris VIII-St. Denis and the University of Paris X-Nanterre. Currently she is Research Associate in the Music Department at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London and scholar at Columbia University Middle East research Centre / Amman. She chairs the Study Group for the Music of the Arab World within the International Council for Traditional Music.
